Our Approach

At Breaking Chains for Recovery, we're committed to providing compassionate and effective services. Our unique approach is designed to meet individuals and families exactly where they are on their journey to healing and recovery.

Reaching Those We Serve

We are dedicated to serving a wide range of individuals and families, including Native and rural communities, LGBTQIA2S+ people, and those facing stigma or isolation. Our services extend to people who use drugs, those who are unhoused, uninsured, or recently released from jail. We also support parents, youth, veterans, and all community members in Great Falls, MT, 11 counties along the Hi-Line, and 4 Tribal Nations.

Our Core Philosophy

At Breaking Chains for Recovery, we believe that every person deserves compassion, dignity, and the chance to heal. Our approach is built on harm reduction, peer support, and community connection, meeting people exactly where they are and walking alongside them on the journey to recovery. We provide a safe and supportive environment where healing can begin.

The Role of Faith in Our Approach

Breaking Chains for Recovery was founded by someone who knows firsthand the struggles of addiction—and the freedom that comes with recovery. Through her own journey, she discovered that faith in Jesus not only gave her the strength to build a new life for herself and her family, but also the calling to walk alongside others and help them do the same.

Our faith shapes how we care for people. We follow the example of Jesus, who loved and restored people even when they were at their lowest.

  • The Woman at the Well (John 4:4–26, NIV): Jesus met her in her brokenness, without judgment, and offered her living water. Like Him, we meet people where they are, with dignity and compassion.
  • The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11–32, NIV): Jesus told of a father who welcomed his wayward son home with open arms. At Breaking Chains, we believe everyone deserves that same chance at redemption and a fresh start.
  • The Woman Caught in Adultery (John 8:1–11, NIV): When others wanted condemnation, Jesus chose mercy: “Neither do I condemn you… Go now and leave your life of sin.” We, too, choose mercy over judgment, knowing grace can open the door to transformation.
  • Zacchaeus the Tax Collector (Luke 19:1–10, NIV): Jesus saw value in a man everyone else despised. His kindness led to Zacchaeus’ change of heart and life. In the same way, we see value in every person who walks through our doors.

Faith reminds us that no one is too far gone, no story is beyond redemption, and no life is without worth. Just as Christ broke chains of sin and shame, we walk with people to break chains of addiction, stigma, and hopelessness.
