Why These Supplies Matter

Clean Syringes & Sharps Containers
Prevents the spread of HIV, Hepatitis C, and other blood-borne infections. Sharing or reusing needles increases infection risk. Safe disposal protects the whole community (children, sanitation workers, law enforcement) from accidental needle sticks.

Naloxone (Narcan)
Purpose: Reverses opioid overdoses within minutes. Montana and other rural states are seeing rising fentanyl overdoses. Having naloxone widely available means more people survive and can be connected to treatment.

Drug Testing Strips (Fentanyl & Xylazine)
Allows people to test substances before use. Fentanyl and xylazine are often hidden in other drugs. Knowing what’s in the supply reduces overdose risk and gives people a chance to make safer choices.

Wound Care Kits
Helps people treat abscesses, skin infections, and injuries early.
Untreated wounds can lead to hospitalizations, amputations, or death. Early care keeps people healthier and reduces ER visits.

Safer Sex Supplies
Prevents sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unplanned pregnancies. People who use substances may have increased risk of unsafe sex; condoms and related items help protect both them and their partners.

Plan B & Pregnancy Tests
Provides reproductive health options. Supports people in making informed choices about their health and futures.

The Bigger Picture
The ultimate purpose of these supplies is:
- To keep people alive and healthy long enough to choose recovery.
- To build trust. When people come in for supplies, they also get connected to peer support, recovery meetings, housing, food, or treatment referrals.
- To reduce community costs. Every infection, ER visit, or overdose prevented saves the health system and taxpayers thousands of dollars.
